Hair Crisis

My mom gave me a gift certificate to the hair salon that she goes to. I decided to get my hair trimmed and glazed. Glaze is a semi-permanent color that also makes your hair shiny. Or maybe it's called gloss. Whatever. So I went to the hairstylist that my mom goes to. She has cut my hair before but never colored it. I explained to her that I wanted the color to match my natural color or be a little darker. I clearly told her nothing with red tones. Red looks horrible on me. My skin is too pink.

So she puts the color on and sat me under the blow dryer. I sat under the dryer for the required 15 minutes. And then I sat for at least another 15 minutes waiting for someone to rinse my hair. As soon as I sat in the chair I could see that my hair was orange. Literally orange on the top of my head. So I pointed this out to the hair dresser. She didn't say anything about it before I brought it up. Did she think I was not going to notice?? She decided to glaze my hair again in an attempt to get rid of the orange. Well the orange went away but then it was red. So she glazed it for the third time. She used a blue glaze to try and tone down the red. I was so upset. Literally sitting in the chair trying not to cry. My hair is the one thing I am vain about and I was so sad that it was ruined.

By this point I had been at the salon for over three hours and I just wanted out of there. So I told her that it was fine, they dried my hair and I left. But my hair still looked crazy! I was several different shades of dark brown. There was a haze of red at the top, the bottom seemed to have a grey tint and the back had a blueish color. I called my friend Kathleen. Because I knew she would be totally honest and tell me the truth. At this point I wasn't sure if I was over-reacting or if it really did look awful. I met up with Kathleen in the Bally's parking lot. She sadly confirmed that my hair was a disaster. We decided that I needed to go somewhere and try to get it fixed.

So I called Dana's new salon, Karma! As I was dialing I started to panic again. It was 2:05 and the salon closes at 3 on Saturday and they are closed on Sunday and Monday. I was freaking out thinking that I was going to be stuck with this mess until Tuesday. So the salon owner answers and when I told her that I need an appointment with Dana AS SOON AS POSSIBLE she put me on hold and then Dana came on the phone. Dana told me to come on over. Whew! I got to the salon and even though it was about 2:20 Dana squeezed me in and fixed my hair! She colored it a nice, dark color to even it out and cover up all the other weird shades. Everyone at the salon was sooo nice. They all stayed late while Dana colored my hair. They really went out of their way to help me and tried to make me feel better and I appreciate it so much! Thank you everyone at Karma and mostly thank you Dana for saving my hair!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I later found out that the reason by hair turned all sorts of weird colors is because two people at the original salon mixed up the glaze colors.

  1. I would've kept the funky colors. That would've been fun. lol kidding! And I keep telling everyone they need to be going to Dana and no one listens! It takes a traumatic experience like this to realize it. Haha And how come I wasn't mentioned!? I gave my advise. I think it went along the lines of, "Oh that sucks. Go see Dana." lololol
